Tentative rules for ESS' Assault on the Asphalt

(ESS rule book applies with the following changes and suggestions).
The event is set up to use your dirt cars on asphalt.
Cars will run with wings.
Cars must be on 4 bars only. A coil helper may be used on the right front.
50" front axle, king pin to king pin, wheel spacing on right front is open.
No trick axles, standard axles for dirt only.
Steel tie rod ends and drag links only.
4" ride height.
Left end steer cars only.
34"/43" min. and max. from center of rear end to outside of rear tire.
Fuel tank must be center of car.
Front Spoilers can be used and can go below the 4" ride height but can not extend past the front nerf bar.  No external wings or body work, standard sprint bodies.
Strongly suggest a 6 pin right front hub.
Strongly suggest right front brake, no dual master cylinders.

** Note: Any sprint team can practice on any regular race night as well, please call Steve Gioia at the Oswego Speedway office to coordinate.

New Passport Cards:

U.S. citizens may begin applying in advance for the new U.S. Passport Card beginning February 1, 2008, U.S. Passport Cardin anticipation of land border travel document requirements.  We expect cards will be available and mailed to applicants in spring 2008.

The passport card will facilitate entry and expedite document processing at U.S. land and sea ports-of-entry when arriving from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda.  The card may not be used to travel by air.  It will otherwise carry the rights and privileges of the U.S. passport book and will be adjudicated to the exact same standards.

$10 for children - $20 for adults an there is a $25 processing fee for each - so $35 and $45 each.  Much better than $97!

Border Crossing Info for 2008:

Showing only your driver's license will not get you across the Canadian border beginning next week.

Border officials announced Thursday that travelers will need more documentation. Now, a passport or enhanced driver's license, or a driver's license and your birth certificate will get you into Canada. The changes take effect on January 31.

“U.S. and Canadian citizens, age 19 and older will no longer be able to enter the U.S. with an oral declaration only,” said Robert Jacksta with the Department of Homeland Security. “You will be asked to present documentation from several options. We have been gearing up for the security enhancement for months now, and we believe that we are ready to move forward.”

Children under the age of 18 will just need a birth certificate to cross the border. Local Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and several colleagues are calling on the Department of Homeland Security to hold off any change until June, 2009.

To all Race Teams:

For this year at ESS events you are required to have transponders.  ESS will have very few for rent at each event so we would like for you to get them as early as possible. The cost is $340.

I will handle all the ordering for you.  Please make the check or money orders out to Empire Super Sprints and mail to me.  I will then send in a bulk order and distribute to you.

If you have one, please forward me your frequency number so we can add to our system.
