Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints Appearing at the National Parts Peddler Trade Show this Weekend

 
Lucas Oil Products Inc.SYRACUSE, N.Y.As the 25th Anniversary season came to a close last weekend for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) at the annual awards banquet, its time to get ready for 2009.  A yearly tradition, the 360 sprint car sanctioning body will have a booth at the 29th annual National Parts Peddler Trade Show and Auction for competitors and fans alike to stop by.

The National Parts PeddlerSYRACUSE, N.Y.This weekend will be the 29th annual National Parts Peddler Trade Show and Auction at the New York State Fairgrounds Center of Progress Building.  Two big parts of the show will be the booths of the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints and Genesis Shocks.
 
 

 

Lucas Oil Returns to the Sponsor the Empire Super Sprint Tour for Two More Years

The biggest sponsorship announcement in Empire Super Sprint (ESS) history came at the 25th anniversary awards banquet from Lucas Oil Canada’s Steve Snowden himself.  Lucas Oil has signed on to be the tour sponsor for the 2009 and 2010 seasons with the title officially being the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints.

    Jeff Cook talks about his season racing with the Empire Super Sprints as he relaxes at their annual banquet last Saturday night. He told me about the big flip he had, described how busy he has been with his life away from the racetrack and how much he is looking forward to being less distracted in 2009. What a busy guy! Good luck Jeff.

     Doug Emery was just getting ready to head into the ESS banquet on Saturday night and paused to chat with me before he went into the room. He told me how cool it was to see the stars of the early days with the club, reviewed his 2008 season and wonders whether he will be better off as a driver or as a car owner.

    Chuck Hebing was at the Empire Super Sprints banquet on Saturday night and spoke with me about his plans to race more with ESS in 2009. He explained why he made the decision, why the tracks they will race at next year was the major factor in his decision and described some of the work he is doing back at his business.

    Mal Lane was one of many former drivers who were on hand to celebrate 25 years of racing at the annual Empire Super Sprints banquet. He remembered his six straight championships with the group, thought back on his last time behind the wheel and what he has been doing with his life since then.

    Dan Kaszubinski explained why he was only behind the wheel of a Sprint Car a few times last year. He told me how other things in his life took priority, how badly he felt about walking away and wondered if he might get back in the seat this year.

    Dean Reynolds talked about the ESS drivers meeting that took place earlier in the afternoon and filled me in on one big change for 2009. He explained why the drivers voted in cockpit adjustable shocks and reviewed the successful year the club had as he got ready to hand out awards at the annual banquet.

    Steve Poirier talked about his ten win season as he got ready to celebrate at the Empire Super Sprints Banquet in Syracuse . He told me how good it felt to do as well as he did, explained how his schedule with ESS is less grueling than it was in his Modified days and how much he is looking forward to getting his 410 out a few times next year. Congratulations Steve.

    Lance Yonge chatted about his second place in the season point standings for the Empire Super Sprints as he got ready to celebrate the year with his family at the annual banquet. He also chatted about his hopes to win a race last year, described a motor issue they had and wondered about his plans for the 2009 season.

    Gordy Button was at the annual Empire Super Sprints banquet as the club celebrated twenty five years of racing. He talked about racing with ESS in the 1980’s, why he recently returned to his Sprint Car roots after more than a decade in Modifieds and told me what is going on at his race shop right now.

    Adrian Flath was one of many drivers from the past who were honored at the Empire Super Sprints Banquet and paused to chat with me about how surprised he was to be one of them. He talked about some of the folks he raced with back in the day, remembered his career ending crash at Rolling Wheels and the first time he strapped himself in a racecar.
