LAFARGEVILLE, NY - Steve Poirier said numerous times over the off-season he was coming back full-time in 2013 and was looking to regain the form that won him three prior Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint Championships. Poirier was limited in 2012 due to a knee injury and missed much of the season rehabbing from that.

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart of Rushville, Ind., flew into Selinsgrove Saturday evening from Martinsville (Virginia) Speedway, where the elite Cup series is competing this weekend, to race in Selinsgrove Speedway’s Empire Super Sprint (ESS) Mach 1 Chassis 358-360 sprint car challenge race and came away with a convincing victory in the 30-lap, $3,000-to-win feature.

Sam Reakes IV looks ahead to the Empire Super Sprints opener this Friday up north at Can Am. He remembered coming into the race as a rookie last year, explained how winning that race changed his team’s expectations and fills me in on some good new away from the racetrack.

Dean Reynolds shows me the new ESS Hall of Fame and talks about the upcoming 2013 season. He told me how happy he was to be located inside the DIRT Motorsports Hall of Fame & Classic Car Museum, how nice it is to have some room to grow and looks forward to the regular season start at Can Am.

Joe Trenca remembers his rookie season with the ESS and talks about the work they are doing. He told me when he started to get more comfortable in the car, which type of track he tends to do better on and why they are changing their look a little for 2013.

Lance Yonge told me why he decided not to retire and remembers another time when he almost quit. He explained what role his daughter had in his return this year, how big the number 30 was in his decision and thinks back to his very first night in a Sprint Car back in 1993.

Mal Lane spoke about being inducted into the ESS Hall of Fame and his start in racing in 1966. He told me about the racecars he drove before moving to Sprint Cars, why the idea of racing with a wing on top appealed to him so much and how driving field cars at an early age helped him learn to drive.

Gordy Button talks about his induction into the ESS Hall of Fame and his early days in Sprints. He told me how surprised he was to receive the award, remembers some of their races in Canada and wonders how much he will race in 2013.
