Shane Stewart Dominate in First Annual Can-Am Challenge at Autodrome Granby



GRANBY, QC – When the idea of putting on a big 360 sprint car event at the famed Autodrome Granby in Quebec was put into place, it attracted one of the best sprint car drivers anywhere. Bixby Oklanhoma’s Shane Stewart took the lead from Quebec native Alain Bergeron on lap 13 and never looked back in winning the first annual Can-Am Challenge.

GRANBY, QC- The first annual Can-Am Challenge at Autodrome Granby kicked off Friday night with two 15 lap preliminary feature events that were captured by Belleville, Michigan’s Dain Naida and Bixby, Oklahoma’s Shane Stewart. Not only did they collect $500 for their efforts by also guaranteed no worse than ninth and tenth place starting spot in Saturday night’s finale.

SYRACUSE, NY – After a very successful opening event on the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) 2012 Tour where 35 sprinters invaded the Can-Am Motorsports Park, the attention now shifts to the first annual Can-Am Challenge at Autodrome Granby. The fast half-mile has been a mainstay on the ESS tour since 1994 but a new endeavor which will see many top drivers from five states and two Canadian provinces looking for the top prize money is going to be exciting.

Shawn Donath came home in third place in the A-Main and told the crowd as well as Mike Mallett how good his car was in the 25 lapper.

Steve Poirier talked about his 4th place finish in the ESS A-Main at Can Am and how thankful he was he rethought some changes he was going to make.
